2017 has been knocking on the door for months and now, we’ve opened our home to no one else but Jason standing on the porch, even if many of us think he’s just here because movie reboots are just a thing right now.

Yes, many of these movies are reboots.

  1. Amityville: The Awakening – June 30th
Yet another Amityville horror movie. People must like these because I don’t think you can count on two hands the number of movies that live in the Amityville House. Dimension and Blumhouse are on the scene for this installment of the franchise. The trailer seems promising and if we’re lucky it may have some connection to The Conjuring series. With the sale of the actual Amityville house taking place just a few months ago, maybe this film will leave the house vacant once again?
  1. Friday the 13th – October 13th
Jeez, if anyone hasn’t already figured this out, this is going to be a big year for reboots. This movie hasn’t been declared as far as I can find to be either a continuation of the series or a prequel. The name alone can lead one to believe it’s going for a hard reboot and maybe another shot at a younger generation. All the information we are given is this is to be the story that answers why the human sandbag can’t be killed.
  1. Insidious: Chapter 4 – October 20th
I don’t know about anyone else, but I adore the Insidious series. A movie series that I can’t say much bad about. For its fans it’s left us still asking questions, going as far bad to the first film. This movie is said to be giving us this, plus more. A continuation of the prequel, we’re going to be centered around our favorite medium and the mystery behind her powers.
  1. The Belko Experiment: Out now
Ever feel like killing your coworkers? I’d say who, but he may be editing this. An interesting “what if?” sort of film. 83 Americans in the building and you are tasked with killing at least three, Otherwise, you and five other jerk’s heads will be used as part of the offices new décor. Plus, you get to watch Dr. Cox yell at people once again.
  1. IT – September 8th
Get your slingshots friends, we’re all going to need them as we spend September pouring cement down our sewer drains. The clown is back in this kinda-sorta reboot. It’s not exactly a reboot because the story is going to be about the original children’s children. Who, for some unknown reason don’t remember their experience at all. The most disheartening part of it all, Tim Curry won’t be reprising his role. Instead, we’re getting Bill Skarsgard, so yay?
  1. Cloverfield 2017 or God Particle – October 27th
So, many of you are probably thinking “What the hell is this?” Well, I don’t have an answer for you. I tried looking around for you and in response, I was handed:

“A team of astronauts aboard a space station finds themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must fight for survival following their horrible discovery.”

Yeah, that’s what we got so far.

  1. Saw: Legacy – October 27th.
I have been wishing this series to have the same death it deals out in every film. Jigsaw is back with some new crazy puzzles. I hope that his Tricycle could get some spinners and pinstripes. The film is being directed by the guys who did Daybreakers. Not much to say about Saw, it does what it does. Oh, and Charlie Clouser from Nine Inch Nails is doing the score for the movie. I think I’m at the point where I’d rather see another Hellraiser movie.
  1. Annabelle 2 – August 11th
David Sandberg directs this sequel to the harrowing series of a blood-soaked doll. This conjuring spinoff is supposed to be taking place in the home of a dollmaker and his wife, following the 20th anniversary of their daughter’s death. Somehow a nun and several of her orphans get involved. I wonder when they’ll just cut Annabelle into the background of every scene and have nothing happen. That’s creepy enough for me.
  1. Flatliners – September 29th
Who doesn’t love the 90’s? Even better, who doesn’t love Kevin Bacon’s iconic nose? Well too bad. You’re getting another reboot without either of those things. This film is going to have the same plot from the original. Med school students conducting near-death experiments and hell ensues.
  1. Cadaver – August 25th
Shay Mitchell is going to star as a disgraced cop and now recovering addict, who for some reason also can work in a more, takes on a job at a hospital. Coincidently the same hospital her character became sober through. As she is working, a body that has been torn to pieces shows up. Thus, ensues a story of violent murders and of course a greater EVIL! This movie seems like it’s going to have potential, but I remain skeptical.
